Investigation into the murder of an Assamese vlogger allegedly by her lover has revealed that the killer spent two days with Maya Gogoi’s corpse in a service apartment in Bengaluru, police sources said on Wednesday.
The shocking incident came to light on Tuesday in the limits of Indiranagar police station.
Investigation so far has revealed that the lover-turned-alleged killer Aarav Hanoy had spent two days with Maya Gogoi’s corpse, and most of the time he was sitting in front of the corpse and smoking cigarettes.
The police have formed two teams and started looking for him.
The suspected killer’s phone is switched off and police teams are looking for him in Kerala and other places.
After boarding a taxi from the service apartment, Aarav Hanoy had reached Majestic area in Bengaluru’s Central Business District and after that he switched off his phone.
According to the police, the deceased vlogger Maya lived with her sister in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout.
Maya had called her sister and told her that she would not be coming home on Friday as she was attending an office party.
Later, she had sent another message on Saturday saying that she would not be coming home as she was partying that night as well.
Maya’s sister has told the police that Aarav and Maya were in a relationship for the last six months after meeting through social media.
They were checking in to the service apartment on Saturday and initial investigation has revealed that the accused brought a knife with him while checking in to the service apartment. He had also bought a nylon rope online.
After spending time with Maya, the accused stabbed her to death, police sources said.
The police have collected CCTV footage and information about the cab booked by him and the time he left the service apartment on Tuesday.
The accused left the service apartment at 8.19 am on Tuesday.
Earlier the police suspected that the killer had spent the whole day with the corpse of his lover in the rented room and then quietly walked out and disappeared.
Now it has been revealed that he had spent two days with the corpse as Maya and Aarav had booked the service apartment last Saturday. It is suspected that the murder took place on Sunday midnight.
Maya was employed in a private firm and the police have collected CCTV footage of Maya and Aarav entering the service apartment on November 23.
The police are investigating if the killer had a plan to cut the corpse into pieces and take it out as he had spent a day with the corpse.
The CCTV footage does not reveal any other person entering the service apartment between November 23 and November 26.
An official statement has not been given by the police department yet.
