A tragic accident took place on the Agra Expressway where five doctors lost their lives when their car hit a divider and then collided with a truck. The accident has shocked the medical community and the general public.
Accident Details
The incident took place early in the morning when the doctors were travelling in a Scorpio vehicle on the Agra Expressway. For reasons still under investigation, the car lost control and first hit a divider on the road. After hitting the divider, the vehicle veered into the path of an oncoming truck, leading to a massive collision. The car suffered severe damage due to the collision and all five doctors in the vehicle died on the spot.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand confirmed that all five victims died on the spot. The lone survivor was identified as Jaiveer Singh (39), a postgraduate student at Saifai Medical College, who was rushed to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Medical College in Tirwa and is undergoing treatment.
The victims were identified as Dr Anirudh Verma (29) from Agra, Dr Santosh Kumar Maurya (46) from Bhadohi, Dr Arun Kumar (34) from Kannauj, Dr Nardev (35) and Rakesh Kumar (38) from Bareilly. The group, affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai, was returning from a wedding in Lucknow when the accident occurred.
Circle Officer Dr Priyanka Bajpai said that the bodies have been sent for postmortem, and an investigation into the accident is underway.
